Make time on this full-day 140km circuit drive to visit delightful Coomba Falls at Maidenwell before driving on to the Bunya Mountains. You could stop for breakfast or morning tea at Maidenwell, where you have the choice of the Maidenwell Trading Post Cafe, Maidenwell Treasures Cafe and the Maidenwell Pub.
Once you get up to the Bunya Mountains there are scenic walks and along the way, including from Dandabah Village where you can stop for lunch at either the Bunya Tavern or Poppy’s Cafe – or picnic on the park area amongst the wallabies.
A fabulous country drive taking you north from the caravan park through the town of Nanango and then east to follow the Western Branch of the Brisbane River, down to Linville, before heading back to camp through the towns of Moore and Blackbutt.
Half of this route is dirt road, best suited to SUV or 4wd. You cross the Brisbane River around 37 times, each crossing is a safe concrete crossing and each offers something different. The views along this journey are spectacular. Take chairs and a picnic, there are some great spots to rest, dip your feet into the river/creek crossings and have lunch!
